Why do I need to keep my baby awake 1 to 2 hours before the session?

If the baby has slept all morning and then arrives to my studio, they just might be ready for a long awake period, which makes the job of getting them sleepy all that much harder. Some things you can do ar, play with baby, talk with baby, maybe even give the baby a bath before the session – whatever it takes to keep them alert for an hour or two.  Then, when they arrive in my studio, they’ll be ready for a long nap!

 

Why Do I need to feed my baby 10 minutes before leaving to the session?

This way, assuming their drive isn’t too long, the baby will still be full and has probably fallen asleep in the car.  I can immediately get started on the session when you arrive and hopefully get an hour or two of photos done before baby needs a feeding break. 

 

I'm strictly breastfeeding, Why do I need to bring a bottle?

Sessions with exclusively breast feeding and non-pacifier babies tend to last around 4+ hours. This is due to having to pick up and moving baby to feed, re-settling baby in to poses, much rocking, etc.

Sessions with babies where we have a bottle or pacifier available tend to be shorter sessions (2-3 hours) with more variety in poses. A refrigerator for pre-made or breastmilk bottles is available for your convenience.

 

I don't plan to give my baby a pacifier, Why do I need to bring one?

Even if you aren't thinking you will want to use a paci, please bring one to your session.The short amount of time we will be using one should not affect any habit-forming behaviors for your baby. My goal is to help keep the baby happy and calm during our session.

If we do not have a pacifier or a bottle for sotthing, some poses may not be achievable.
