Some birthdays don’t need a big theme to feel special. My Simple Pure Classic Cake Smash sessions are made for families who love clean, timeless images with the focus fully on their little one.

This session is built around my favorite piece in the studio — a white vintage-style high chair that brings the whole look together. It's the heart of this setup. Not only does it photograph beautifully, it also gives your baby a comfy spot to sit and explore their first cake.

Before we bring out the cake, we always start with a few simple portraits of your baby. These are done on the floor using soft studio lighting and minimal props to keep the look clean and classic. Whether your little one is sitting, crawling, or just exploring the space, these moments help ease them into the session and capture their personality in a relaxed, natural way. It’s also a chance to document that sweet “before the mess” moment — calm, curious, and ready for cake.

Once we move to the high chair, the fun really begins. The soft white backdrop and light tones help keep all the focus on your baby. With a simple white cake in front of them and plenty of room to play, they get to enjoy their moment while we capture every expression. It’s all about celebrating the milestone in a way that feels light, happy, and real.
