Children Session Tips
We are going to have so much fun at your portrait session. I have a few tips and tricks for you to ensure everything goes smoothly and that we have a great time!
They don’t sound like much, but trust me, they make a big difference!
-
Avoid any red/orange drinks 24 hours before the session
-
Talk About the Session:
Explain to your child what the photo session will be like. Let them know it’s a fun activity where they get to play and be themselves while someone takes pictures.
-
Choose Comfortable Clothing:
Pick out outfits that your child feels comfortable in and that reflect their personality. Avoid anything too tight or itchy. Layering can also add variety to the photos.
IMPORTANT: Ensure that the outfits is ironed, stain and wrinkle free.
-
Bring Favorite Items:
Pack a few of your child’s favorite toys, books, or comfort items. These can help them feel more at ease and add a personal touch to the photos.

-
Schedule Wisely:
Choose a time for the session when your child is usually well-rested and in a good mood. Avoid nap times or meal times to prevent crankiness.
-
Keep It Fun and Positive:
Present the session as a fun adventure. Avoid putting too much pressure on your child to “perform” or smile perfectly. The more relaxed they are, the more natural and genuine their expressions will be.
-
Have Snacks and Water:
Bring along some of your child’s favorite snacks and a water bottle. Small breaks for snacks can keep energy levels up and make the session more enjoyable.

•Practice Posing and Smiling:
Spend a little time practicing different poses and smiles at home. Make it a game to see who can come up with the silliest or happiest faces.
• Prepare for the Unexpected:
Sometimes children can be unpredictable. Be ready to go with the flow and reassure your child if they feel shy or uncooperative. The photographer is experienced with children and will help guide the session smoothly.
• Stay Positive and Encouraging:
Your attitude can greatly influence your child’s mood. Stay upbeat and encouraging, and praise them for their cooperation and great behavior.
By following these tips, you can help ensure that your child feels comfortable and enjoys their personality session, resulting in beautiful, authentic photos.
I can't wait to see the magic we'll create!
